I expect lots of people have seen the hype around the FlowHive. Flow Hive is created by a father and son team from Australia and makes harvesting your own honey as easy as turning a faucet. Apparently it’s raised $5.6 million on Indiegogo so far, making it the most successful campaign in the site’s history, and there’s still a month left to go. I can’t quite make up my mind – I am all for anything that reduces stress to the bees, but I also still rather love the traditional bee keeping technique which means you get to know your bees and understand the inner workings of the hive and how to spot infection and disease. I always love the excitement of looking into the hive, saying hello to my busy worker bees. Turning on a tap to get the honey rather takes the magic out of it. But then I suppose it will make bee keeping more accessible to people.
Here’s what FlowHive Say;
Turn a tap and watch as pure, fresh, clean honey flows right out of the hive and into your jar. No mess, no fuss, no expensive processing equipment and the bees are hardly even disturbed.
“This really is a revolution. You can see into the hive, see when the honey is ready and take it away in such a gentle way.”
We are very excited to introduce our new invention that allows you to enjoy fresh honey straight out of your beehive without opening it. It’s far less stress for the bees and much, much easier for the beekeeper.
